Where the soil changes
Inland Lewisville sits on black clay, the Austin Chalk and Eagle Ford ground that shrinks in August and swells in a wet spring. Heads tilt, valve boxes heave, and a leak shows up as mud. Toward Lake Lewisville, and east as the lots approach the dam, the ground is sandier. The same broken lateral becomes a soft spot instead of a puddle, and nozzles fail from grit more than from heave. Bermuda takes the sun. St. Augustine remains on shaded older lots, including stretches of Old Town and the southwest side.
